Our Founders

A lawyer by profession, my passion for agriculture drew me to Param Anahad Farms, where I found a way to stay connected to our roots while building something with a larger vision. What started as an interest in agriculture became a desire to see Indian farming evolve, to take what is deeply rooted in our traditions and give it a more modern, ambitious and meaningful direction. With Upaj, I want to take that vision beyond the farm and into people’s homes. At Upaj, I am involved in the running of the business, from logistics to operations, expansion and day-to-day execution. I am usually the one behind the scenes, making things happen, solving the practical challenges and constantly looking at how we can grow without compromising what we stand for. As we scale, my focus remains on building the systems and processes that allow us to maintain purity, quality and transparency from the farm to the final product, while taking Upaj to a much larger scale.

I have always felt deeply connected to nature and dreamed of creating something that would allow me to work closely with it. Bringing that dream to life, however, was not easy. The land we started with was far from the lush, green farm I had imagined. Slowly, with patience, persistence and a great deal of personal involvement, we transformed it into Param Anahad Farms; a green haven that continues to grow today. I have always been particular about what I eat and, naturally, about what I would want my family and others to eat and receive as a gift. That belief is at the heart of my involvement with Upaj. At Upaj, I am closely involved with the farm, our products and the evolution of the Upaj pantry; constantly exploring new varieties, ideas and possibilities. I am also involved in the day-to-day business and its scaling, while wanting to see the farm become greener, larger and better with every passing year, while also creating meaningful opportunities for the women who work with us. For me, Upaj is an extension of something very personal: growing with nature, nurturing what we have, and sharing it with others.

I am an Advocate by profession, and the idea for Upaj came from a desire to reimagine the way we gift. I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth, and over the years I found myself questioning the tradition of gifting boxes of sugar-laden sweets and bakery products- receiving them, feeling guilty about not eating them, and eventually passing them on. I felt there had to be a better, more thoughtful way to gift. I saw a gap in the gifting space for things that were wholesome, meaningful, beautifully presented and genuinely worth receiving; and that thought became Upaj. At Upaj, I lead the vision, brand-building and creative direction; from conceptualising products to shaping our brand identity, storytelling, marketing, packaging and customer experience. I am closely involved in bringing ideas to life, building relationships, creating new possibilities and shaping Upaj into a distinctive, contemporary expression of thoughtful Indian gifting. Most importantly, I want everything we create to be something I would be genuinely happy to receive myself.
